SINON

THE MAGAZINE

otherwise, in a different way

In a small provincial town, a boy disappears without a trace. His case shocks the country, dominates the media and sparks countless speculations. His body is never found. Months later, the investigation leads to a group of minors.
At the center of the play is one of the children associated with the case. Now an adult, he returns to the events that marked his life. Through interrogations, reenactments and fragments of memory, he attempts to reconstruct what happened in those days and understand the burden he still carries.
Panos Vlachos plays the antiheroes of this story one after the other, composing the collective portrait of a city where no one is truly left unscathed. With him, five underage performers constantly transform into victims and perpetrators, accomplices and witnesses. How can we tell this story to children? But also how can we hear this story from children?
When does a game stop being a game?

ALEX | ALEXANDER is a performance about violence and the way in which boys learn from an early age to associate power with imposition and vulnerability with weakness. It approaches bullying not as an isolated incident, but as the first stage of a broader culture of violence. At the same time, it explores the relationship between individual and collective responsibility. Aesthetic and theatrical questions meet ethical dilemmas: how do you represent violence without reproducing it? How do children themselves perceive guilt, fear, silence and loss? And what happens when we see them embodying not only children, but also the adults who shaped them?
Director Lito Triantafyllidou approaches this story as a staged exercise in memory. The stage is transformed into a space where narration, play and interrogation coexist, constantly shifting the viewer’s perspective and inviting them to confront not only an extreme manifestation of child violence, but also the conditions that gave rise to it. Through this journey, the story of a child’s disappearance becomes the story of a city that has already lost its children.

This performance is an original work of artistic fiction. Any resemblance to real people or real events is purely coincidental.
