~ Hiding only ends when you have nowhere to hide anymore. ~

Case

In Ioannina, two sisters live under the heavy shadow of an authoritarian mother and the secrets that haunt the family. Iro, the older and a talented artist, struggles with her weaknesses and her own vulnerability, while her younger sister seems to know more than she reveals.

The play constantly moves back and forth in time, illuminating past and present, guilt and false interpretations, moments of love and jealousy, as the two women play their own relentless game of hide and seek with the truth.

When their mother dies, relationships are tested and accusations become weapons, leading to a chain of tragedy that transcends the boundaries of kinship. In the end, the truths are revealed but the realization comes too late.

Director’s Note

“The Hidden” is a work that psychographs the pathogenesis of the generally closed and authoritarian family that continues to exist in modern times. Perhaps in a different and more insidious way that makes it unrecognizable at first glance. It is therefore a work that focuses on the instrumentalization of the soul by the parents themselves and the inability to recognize this.

It speaks of guilt and humiliation, of hidden emotions, of the fading promise of a better life, of hidden secrets, of the ceaseless game of silence and revelation, of the relationships that save us or destroy us, and of the truth that is often revealed when there is no way back.

So let’s talk about the “hidden” that is played out between us and others, but especially between us and ourselves.

Is silence always weakness?

Silence may not be weakness but a form of selfless love
